The crowd gathers as an unknown man takes initiative to help a taxi driver get his car keys out of a tree. While this is happening, the line of cars grows steadily behind his cab, which is stopped in the middle of a single-lane street. The scene lasts for approximately 10 minutes, only returning to ‘normalcy’ after the climax of a fiercely angry young man trying to block the taxi driver from driving away and finally chasing him down the street. Glorious China!

one thing’s been bothering me about this story… how did his keys get into the tree in the first place? This was one complex event!

ha,ha… yes, i left out the beginning of this story for ‘dramatic effect’… the brawl between the taxi driver and the young man had already begun when i arrived, you know the kind, all traffic stopped, lots of posing and cursing and a young boy in the back of a moto-车 crying in full affect. not sure how the man took the driver’s keys, but at one point he threw them away into the air and they happened to land on the other side of the street, in the tree…

would like to catch up to your other comments, but got caught up these last few days… thank you, and more soon!

wow, all human life is here…
I feel better now I have some back story.

M and I ran into one this evening – taxi driver and a woman going absolutely ballistic with him in the middle of the road. M and I were all “yeah, whatever, just another argument on Beijing’s streets… now where was that bar?” we’re so inured to it now!

M was telling me about you both cooking for the notchers. a tower of baozi? creative! – any photos?
